PC Security
  • Keep your PC secure and protect it with password. Install the updates recommended by your operating system and software providers. Use up-to-date Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software and run scans often to detect and remove programs that may be harmful to your computer or can obtain your personal information.
  • Use latest version of Browsers suggested by this service. Keeping your browser up-to-date will ensure your browser has the latest security updates.
  • Turn on firewall installed in your computer or in reliable Anti-Virus software. A personal firewall can help prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to your computer via Internet.
  • Do not click suspicious pop-up windows or open emails appear to be suspicious, even from people you know. These can be tricks to install malwares or spywares (i.e. Keystroke Logging, Trojan, Worm, Bot, Virus, Ransomware, etc.) and steal information from your computer including financial and personal information.
  • Use your own computer to log in your online account. Do not login from a library, hotel or other public computer.
Protecting Your Account Information
  • When using online checkout, look for safety symbols such as "Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a padlock icon in the browser's status bar and an "s" after "http" in the URL. These are signs that the Website has implemented security measures to protect your personal information during Internet browsing.
  • Be alert of anyone who calls or writes to you asking for card account information. Never give your account details to anyone during phone calls, chat sessions, or emails unless you know who they are and why they need them.
  • You should be free to check or uncheck any check-box. Carefully review any pre-checked boxes on an online order. Failing to un-check the boxes may bind you to terms and conditions you're not interested in.
  • Review card statements and monitor account activities regularly. Setup triggers to receive alerts for your card account activity. Report any suspicious or unauthorized charges.
  • Choose strong passwords and avoid easy-guessing passwords such as names of your family, friends, pets, key dates, etc. Avoid repeating patterns and use symbols and numbers to make your password unique.
  • Memorize your password. Never write down your password or security question information or tell anyone. If necessary to write them down, keep the information in a locked and secure place.
  • Use a crosscut shredder to destroy unneeded bank and other statements that may contain sensitive personal including new PIN letter or expired prepaid cards. It is advisable to store retained documents in a locked and secure place.
  • Simply closing the browser window may not log you off your account. It is important to completely log off from your session. If your computer is infected with a Trojan, your session may become hijacked by hackers and financial transactions may be performed without your knowledge. You may consider disconnecting your computer from the Internet if you are not using it.
